PATH

The Path to Victory, Inc. (PATH) is a prison ministry that offers two programs for the inmates at New Hanover Correctional Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Lynn and Jill LaCour are the co-founders.

Building Dads of Integrity (BDI)

(BDI) is a year-long continuing program held once a week at the New Hanover Correctional Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

With few exceptions, fathers in prison have been out of sight and out of mind of community organizations concerned with family life and children’s well-being. Men in prison have not been encouraged to maintain relationships with their children and have not been supported in carrying out parenting obligations.

The BDI program is designed to encourage and equip inmate fathers to become the dads their children need them to be. In these classes, they will discover what scripture teaches about their God given role of fatherhood. They learn the difference between heritage and legacy, and they will be shown how to leave a legacy of faith for their future generations. Most importantly they will discover that the strength and wisdom they need to parent their children comes from God.

From one of our dads:

“This is an amazing program. It enabled me to grow closer to my children and most importantly to God. The volunteers are truly caring and devoted. I can honestly say that this program played a big role in the dad and Christian I am today. Thank you and God bless… “

A day of  celebration for children and their incarcerated dads to spend an afternoon together and share a Christmas meal as a family.

Dinner is served to inmates, their children, and the guardians. The family sits down to a full Christmas dinner at a table complete with table clothes and decorations. A family photo is taken in front of the Christmas tree. Each child and dad receive a photo to keep! For some dads and their children, this is the only time they will be together all year! The real Christmas Gift – Jesus – is shared as the families hear the gospel message.

Each year we invite individuals and churches to join us in “The Christmas Gift of Prayer”. Those who participate make a commitment to pray for an inmate’s child and their family for the next year. We provide a framed keepsake with the name of the child on it that will serve as a reminder for them to pray. Though the value of the “gift” of prayer for these children and their families is priceless, we do ask for a donation of $25 towards a gift for the child.

Please contact us if you or your church group would like to participate in “The Christmas Gift of Prayer”.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
